Ana Dawson Summer Update
In this update, Ana shares her experience playing the Aramco Team Series in South Korea and the struggles she faces this season.
The last couple of months have been extremely busy with the season getting started up in Europe on the LET Access tour. After dealing with a shoulder injury throughout the beginning of the year that forced me to withdraw in South Africa, it unfortunately persisted to bother me into the start of the European swing on the Ladies European Tour.
I made the decision to withdraw from the first few events to try and get back to full fitness. But this meant missing events on the LET and making my chances slim at keeping a card for next season, so instead I am focusing on the LET Access tour to try and gain a full card on the Ladies European Tour for the 2025 season. I am currently sat at 18th place in the LETAS order of merit, with the top 7 graduating to the LET with a full card and places 8-32 being exempt to final stage of LET qualifying school.
In May I qualified to play in my biggest tournament to date in my professional career, Aramco Team Series, South Korea. Playing in this tournament was a great experience as well as travelling to South Korea to play it. I was picked to be a part of Bronte Law’s team (a past Solheim cup player and the current LET order of merit number 1) which was a great learning experience. I then spent the following month seeking advice from multiple physios and spending time preparing for the upcoming 5-week swing on the LET Access tour, starting in France.
Unfortunately, I picked up tonsillitis and a virus the day before I travelled to the first event in France, and with the low 30’s weather I really struggled physically and didn’t perform how I wanted in the first couple of weeks, after finishing 4th in my first LETAS event back in March. The last couple of games I have started to play a lot more like my usual game, making both cuts.
I finished my final tournament in Sweden to round off the 5 week stretch, which is by far the most amount of tournament golf I have played in a row, and it has been more demanding than I was expecting. So far in 2024 I have already played the same number of tournaments I did the whole of last year, so I am looking forward to trying to finish strong and then enjoying my 3 weeks off in July!
